About TBLT Online

TBLT Online is founded by Sim Yang, Chinese and ESOL teacher at Northcote College, and Applied Lingustics PhD candidate at the University of Auckland, New Zealand.

TBLT online is an online community of practice with devotion to engaging TBLT teaching practitioners in pursuit of optimal TBLT implementation, encouraging teacher learning of TBLT by means of active communities of practice, and developing TBLT resource bank and organizing presentations and group discussions online or offline for language teachers in New Zealand secondary schools.

We invite scholars interested in and active contributors to the field of task-based language teaching (TBLT) to share research findings and experiences of TBLT implementation. In particular, we invite secondary school language teachers to co-organize communities of practice and co-construct TBLT content and teaching plans.

We aim to promote principled approaches to TBLT, and especially to

  • (a) promote research, applications, and development of TBLT,

  • (b) help to disseminate results and resources, and

  • (c) promote international and interdisciplinary cooperation in the field.

TBLT ONLINE aims to pursue these objectives using all the means at its disposal, in particular to:

  • (a) Encourage communities of practice among language teaching practitioners

  • (b) Promote teacher learning and the dissemination of shared information by other appropriate means including its website.
